China and Pakistan on Monday agreed to deepen their trade relations and maintain close communication. The agreement between the two nations was reached during a visit of Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Beijing on Tuesday when he met his counterpart Wang Yi.
The visit of the Pakistani foreign minister to China comes after a deadly arms conflict with India, in which the two arch-rivals that once were one country, exchanged arms for four days, followed by a ceasefire on May 10.
China in recent months, particularly after the trade war with the United States worsened, has been trying to develop a cordial relation with India, though it maintained that India-Pakistan conflict should be resolved through dialogue.
China foreign minister Yi maintained that China welcomed and supported efforts by Pakistan and India to handle their differences through dialogue.
The two countries also agreed to maintain close communication apart from deepening t relations in trade, industry and other sectors.
