China on Tuesday imposed limited tariff on targeted imports from the United States of America and initiated anti-monopoly investigation upon some U.S. based companies including Google with an aim to impose sanctions, as a response to the U.S. tariff of 10% on all Chinese exports.

The response of China is being perceived as a strategy to engage U.S. President Donald Trump on a talk on trade and avert a largescale trade war.

According to reports, Ontario, a province of Canada, has decided to cancel a contract worth $100 million to U.S. satellite internet provider Starlink as part of its response to the 25% U.S. tariff on Canada. Ontario Premier Doug Ford posted on social media platform X on February 3, saying: “We’ll be ripping up the province’s contract with Starlink. Ontario won’t do business with people hellbent on destroying our economy”.

The U.S., however, according to latest reports, has suspended its 25% tariffs threat on Mexico and Canada as of now.
