China on Saturday condemned the transit of two German navy ships through Taiwan Strait, saying that the act increased security risks; and that during the act Chinese forces monitored and warned the vessels, news organisations have reported.
China considers Taiwan as its territory and Taiwan Strait as its water territory. This position of China has always been rejected by the government in Taiwan, which is democratically elected. As the Strait is a popular water way for international trade, international community too does not agree to the Chinese stand about the water way and about Taiwan.
Chinese embassy in Germany too, handed over representations, according to news organisations. China has been locked up in conflict with the U.S. over waters in South China Sea, that is being aggressively claimed by China as its own territory. A few days back, Chinese vessels had engaged Philippine vessels there, which had been condemned by the United States. In a retaliatory stance, China a few days back had warned the U.S. not to meddle with Chinese territorial issues.
