A South Korea court has ruled on Friday that the procedure for the arrest of impeached president Yoon Suk Yeol was not in accordance with the law and therefore the arrest warrant stood cancelled, paving way for his release from the jail.

The impeached president, however, will continue to face he charges over brief imposition of martial law in South Korea. The lawyers for the impeached president argued for his immediate release even as the Constitutional Court of the nation is to rule separately on his impeachment.
