A gunman shot at a prominent Sikh leader, Sukhbir Singh Badal, the former deputy chief minister of Punjab state in India, outside the famous Sikh shrine Golden Temple on Wednesday.

A gunman shot at a prominent Sikh leader, Sukhbir Singh Badal, the former deputy chief minister of Punjab state in India, outside the famous Sikh shrine Golden Temple on Wednesday. Badal went unharmed and the police managed to catch the shooter. The shooter has been identified as Narain Singh.
Golden Temple in Amritsar city is the holiest shrine for Sikhs. Badal reportedly was at the shrine for a service when the incident took place. He was saved when a plain-cloth policeman spotted the shooter remove his gun from his pocket and pushed him aside, though the gunman managed to fire the shot at Badal which went without out harming anyone.
